Whatcha Talking About ???

As I contemplate what exactly to write my first 'true' post about this morning , I first have to take a moment to marvel at the expanse of technology that is allowing me to reach an entire audience that probably would have been completely impossible, even just 10 years ago. Back when I initially dreamed of being a writer, in my days as of the editor of my old high school (Belaire High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana) newspaper "The Kannada Review"  (I'll save the explanation of that name for a future post), the only way that I could have ever envisioned reaching such a wide array of people would have to been employed as a columnist for a major metropolitan newspaper (the New Orleans newspaper Times-Picayune (nola.com) remains still as one of my "dream jobs", to this very day); the explosion of social media such as Facebook is even responsible for this very article that you are reading , and for my recent marriage (my new wife is my former high school sweetheart, whom I met initially in November of 1984 at that same Baton Rouge high school), when my wonderful wife found me by chance while she looked to see if I had an account on Facebook (which I had just signed up for about 2 months prior). I guess that for many folks such as myself that would be considered "old school" , we have a natural resistance to 'change', and basically anything that we are unfamiliar with or that which makes us feel uncomfortable ( how can I embrace  the new '4G' network , when I still am getting used to '3G' ? )  It is truly an amazing thing, and I can hardly imagine what the future may hold down the line.
As far as what I intend to talk about from day -to- day, I suppose that I will cover a wide variety of different topics ; ranging from politics to entertainment, sports to religion, what's currently in the news to matters of opinion, and discerning facts from fiction ----- there truly will be no specific topic that would be considered "off-limits". Just a quick overview of future posts may include views on politics (Are you voting Obama, or the Republican candidate who wins the GOP nomination by default?), sports (when did $20 million dollars per year become an "average" salary for athletes ?) , world events (Am I the only person concerned about the absolute slaughter of the Syrian people by their own government?), the entertainment industry (when did Auto Tune and Dub Stepping, replace actual singing and playing of actual musical instruments?) and random acts of stupidity (why do people insist on texting, while driving ???) ;  as you can see, there are many things that I plan to talk about, and I would like to encourage YOU, the reader who has taken a few brief moments of your time to give me the privilege of your attention, to give me all of the feedback (good or bad) that you would care to share with me, and also engage me in any topic that you would like to see addressed or spoken about; in the hope that you will make this a quick little part of your daily routine, if only because you find it to be as rewarding of an experience as I do.........................

  1. Barry,
How wonderful to see you following your dream. Why do wait so long to do what we love? Instead we punish ourselves until we get old enough to understand that what we love & what we do CAN come together peacefully. I wish you success, and continued happiness.
